From the streets of Belize to the streets of the Carolinas. How Habit Missions Ministry began, the people behind it, and what we believe.
Habit Missions Ministry, Inc. was founded in 2009 and is a registered 501(c)(3) Christian nonprofit incorporated in the state of North Carolina. The mission first began in Belize — serving alongside local churches while reaching homeless individuals, at-risk youth, families in poverty, and communities in need with the love and hope of Jesus Christ.
In 2013, the ministry launched Watchmen of The Streets Homeless Outreach under Habit Missions, expanding the work into the United States with a focus on the greater Charlotte and Winston-Salem areas — and beyond.
We go to where needs exist · we love people where they are · we connect them with resources and with God.
Today the team consists of more than fifty faithful volunteers serving in the areas of the homeless and at-risk youth, both locally and abroad. The Watchmen minister to people who live under bridges, on the streets, and in encampments hidden in the woods — across NC, SC, and other states and countries.
Resources for housing, medical care, addiction recovery, food, clothing, and spiritual help are provided. Aid is brought to camps. Relationships are formed. Prayers are prayed. Hope is given.
My heart for those who feel forgotten began in middle school. I remember noticing the kids left outside the circles, overlooked and made to feel they did not belong. Years later, while attending Bible college, I first shared my faith on the streets. I felt more alive than ever as I witnessed tears of joy and saw what it meant for someone to feel genuinely seen, heard and loved.
That calling grew stronger while serving as a missionary in Belize. Sitting together on cardboard and sharing peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, bottled water and Bibles may have seemed simple, but those moments turned heads, built trust and earned respect. They opened the door for us to provide essential supplies and meals while bringing hope, love and dignity to people living on the streets.
In 2013, I was introduced to Charlotte’s homeless community. I saw people sleeping on the ground, beneath bridges and in hidden tent encampments. What first took me far outside my comfort zone became my calling and led to the beginning of Watchmen of The Streets. Today, it remains one of the greatest honors of my life to serve men, women and children experiencing homelessness alongside those who believe every life matters.
We keep going because every man, woman and child experiencing homelessness deserves to be seen, loved and reminded that their life matters, and to be met with real help, hope and restoration.
Meet people where they are.
Under bridges. In encampments hidden in the woods. On the streets and in the doorways the rest of the city walks past. We do not wait for the homeless to find us. We go where they already are.
Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.
Show the love of Christ.
Food. Hygiene. Bandages. A blanket on a cold night. Conversation. Prayer. The first thing we offer is not a sermon. It is the dignity of being seen, and the patience of being known.
Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
Resources, relationships, and God.
Once trust is built, we connect people with housing, with medical care, with addiction recovery, with partner nonprofits, and when they are ready, with the church and with God.
Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.

The ministry has grown to over 50 active volunteers serving homeless men, women, and children across the Carolinas, providing food, essential supplies, medical aid, addiction recovery resources, and spiritual help to those facing life on the streets.
